MISSION STATEMENT CTE's Mission is to research, develop, implement and promote programs for young people ages 9-21, which utilize the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, business and financial literacy to provide opportunities for youth and families to participate in the free market. CASE STATEMENT CTE fills a much-needed gap in the community and is positively impacting the future of Milwaukee by supplementing our education system in teaching entrepreneurship and financial literacy to low–moderate income and minority youth. CTE teaches individual life skills and self-reliance to be better employees and citizens as well as entrepreneurs. Students learn about financial responsibility, balancing a check book, saving money and the importance of having skills and being a good employee. CTE produces results. While some of the young people in the program go into business for themselves, approximately 90% of youth involved in the programs stay in school and graduate because they have been given productive options. CTE is unique. No other organization teaching entrepreneurship and financial literacy is reaching youth at this personal, community level. The strong, dedicated and highly involved leadership provides programs that are interactive, dynamic and specifically targeted to keep youth involved. CTE advocates,
promotes and encourages the development of entrepreneurial programs
and financial literacy by participating with other groups such as schools,
churches and task forces. It reaches out beyond the minority community.
It provides consultation to other groups in program and staff development.
